Job Summary:
The Manager of Network Services will lead a collaborative team responsible for the design, implementation, and management of our organization's network infrastructure, including Cisco-based LAN, WAN, and wireless technologies. This role ensures high network availability, security, and performance across multiple data centers, supporting critical, always-on healthcare applications, including Epic EMR. The Manager oversees the operational budget related to network services and works closely with departmental leadership. This role focuses on team development, organizational design, and accountability using Leadership, Management, and Accountability (LMA) principles.
Job Responsibilities:
Lead and support a team of network engineers, providing guidance and professional development opportunities to foster growth, operational excellence, and high team performance in alignment with LMA principles. Establish clear roles and responsibilities for the network services team, ensuring accountability and collaboration. Engage in team development activities, including skills assessment, coaching, and career growth planning.
Ensure team members understand and meet performance expectations through regular assessments and constructive feedback aligned with business goals. Foster a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
Oversee the management, monitoring, and support of a large-scale, always-available network, consisting of Cisco switches, routers, firewalls, access points, and related security appliances, ensuring uptime for critical healthcare operations.
Implement redesigned network architecture using Cisco ACI and DNA technologies, collaborating closely with the network architecture team. Ensure network security compliance with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA and HITRUST, prioritizing the protection of Protected Health Information (PHI).
Serve as a technical resource, providing network expertise to cross-functional teams, including security, data center, and application teams. Support network performance optimization, capacity planning, and monitoring strategies for high-performance applications.
Collaborate with IT leadership, business stakeholders, and external vendors to introduce new technologies and ensure continuous service improvement. Manage vendor relationships, including contracts, licensing, SLAs, and critical support escalations.
Develop and implement disaster recovery plans and business continuity strategies to ensure minimal downtime and rapid recovery for critical network services in case of emergencies.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date network documentation, including LAN/WAN designs, equipment lists, and operational runbooks. Ensure network systems comply with healthcare regulations (HIPAA, HITRUST).
Support network integration with critical healthcare applications, ensuring seamless performance and capacity management for always-on operations.
Required Skills & Experience:
5 years of experience managing large, complex network infrastructures in multi-site environments.
3 years in a leadership or team management role, with hands-on experience in network services and operations.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide and support a team of engineers.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Strong expertise in Cisco networking technologies (LAN, WAN, security appliances).
Familiarity with network performance optimization and capacity planning strategies.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities.
Analytical skills, with the ability to assess technical solutions and present them aligned with business objectives.
Familiarity with agile frameworks, including sprint planning and task estimation.
Knowledge of healthcare regulations (HIPAA, HITRUST) and experience ensuring regulatory compliance in network operations.
Experience working with cloud networking (AWS, Azure) and hybrid cloud environments.
Experience managing vendor relationships, including contracts, licensing, and SLAs.
Familiarity with agile project management methodologies, including sprint planning, epics, and task estimation.
Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant technology field (IT, Network Security) or equivalent acquired through a combination of education and experience.
Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) (R/S, Data Center, or Wireless) preferred.
