Who We’re Looking For : An IT Application or Enterprise Architect to join our direct client’s team for a long-term (2 year project) contract role which requires onsite hybrid model in Lansing, Michigan.

Top Skills & Years of Experience Required :

Web Services connected to Oracle and SQL Server
Familiarity with VB6 and .NET Windows Form applications / code
Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, including leadership

Position Description

Our client is seeking an experienced IT Application or Enterprise Architect to join our team for a Legacy Modernization project. This two-year project will involve rewriting a desktop application (VB6 and .NET) into a modern web-based solution. The person in this role will be responsible for designing, architecting, and developing systems using .NET, Entity Framework Core, JSON Serialization, and Web Services.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience in modern software development practices, strong problem-solving abilities, and a collaborative mindset to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities :

System Architecture and Design : Design scalable, maintainable, and business-aligned enterprise applications using .NET.

Development and Implementation : Lead the development of application systems utilizing .NET, Entity Framework Core for database queries, and JSON Serialization for data handling.

Database Architecture : Design and optimize databases and queries using Entity Framework Core, ensuring performance, scalability, and data integrity.

Testing and Quality Assurance : Implement and advocate for robust unit testing practices to maintain system reliability. Develop test strategies and frameworks to support continuous development.

Integration and Web Services : Design and integrate web services (RESTful APIs, SOAP) to enable seamless communication between system components and third-party services.

Collaboration : Work closely with architects, developers, and product teams to define system requirements and ensure alignment with business goals.

Mentorship and Leadership : Provide technical mentorship, share best practices, and foster a culture of continuous learning among team members.

Documentation and Reporting : Maintain clear and comprehensive documentation, including architecture designs, data models, and codebase specifications.

Industry Awareness : Stay updated with new technologies and development practices to improve system architecture, performance, and reliability.

Required Skills and Experience :

5 years of experience in software development or IT architecture.

Proven experience as an IT Application Architect, Enterprise Architect, or similar role in large-scale software projects.

Expertise in .NET for building modern web and enterprise applications.

Strong proficiency in Entity Framework Core for database interaction and optimization.

Experience with JSON Serialization for efficient data handling.

Expertise in designing and implementing Web Services (RESTful APIs, SOAP) for system integration.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.

Excellent communication and collaboration abilities to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications :

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Experience with Agile development methodologies.

Familiarity with CI / CD practices.

Codeworks, LLC discloses that the anticipated hourly pay range for this position is between $60-70 / hr. This range is subject to change based on job-related factors, including client requirements where applicable.
