Position Overview
Codman Academy Charter Public School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Visual Arts Teacher to lead a dynamic and engaging arts program for students in grades K-12. This role is responsible for developing and delivering a comprehensive visual arts curriculum that fosters creativity, artistic skill development, and a deep appreciation for the arts. Key Responsibilities
Curriculum & Instruction
Develop and implement a comprehensive K-12 visual arts curriculum aligned with state and national standards.
- Teach a range of artistic techniques, including drawing, painting, sculpture, digital art, and mixed media.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners and create an inclusive, supportive classroom environment.
Integrate art history and cultural perspectives into lessons to provide students with a well-rounded understanding of the arts.
Student Engagement & Development
Foster a creative and encouraging classroom environment where students feel confident expressing themselves through art.
- Guide students in developing their artistic portfolios and preparing work for exhibitions.
- Organize and lead student showcases, exhibitions, and community-based art projects.
Encourage student participation in local and national art competitions and programs.
Classroom & Resource Management
Maintain a well-organized and safe classroom environment, ensuring the proper use and care of art materials and supplies.
- Manage art supplies, materials, and budget effectively.
Incorporate technology and digital media into the curriculum where appropriate.
Collaboration & School Engagement
Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate arts into other subject areas.
- Work with school leadership to develop and enhance arts programming.
- Participate in school-wide events, faculty meetings, and professional development opportunities.
Engage families and the community in student artwork and creative projects.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts, Art Education, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Massachusetts teaching certification (or eligibility to obtain certification) in Visual Arts.
- 2 years of teaching experience in an arts education setting, preferably in a K-12 environment.
- Strong understanding of various artistic techniques, mediums, and digital art tools.
- Experience in developing and implementing a culturally responsive arts curriculum.
- Excellent classroom management, communication, and collaboration skills.

Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor to support the overall success of Codman Academy.
Salary Range: Based on CACPS scale
