Job Summary:
The High School Volleyball Coach at Codman Academy is responsible for providing leadership, guidance, and instruction to student-athletes within the volleyball program. The coach will develop players' fundamental skills, strategies, and physical training while fostering individual and team success. In addition, the coach will focus on cultivating values such as sportsmanship, self-discipline, and self-confidence, contributing to the personal growth of student-athletes. The coach is responsible for the health, safety, and well-being of all participants and will work closely with the Athletic Director to ensure the program’s alignment with Codman Academy's educational and athletic goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Leadership: Lead the flag football program by planning and conducting practices, developing game strategies, and promoting player development.
- Player Development: Provide instruction in fundamental skills, game strategy, and physical conditioning to foster both individual and team success.
- Values-based Coaching: Instill values such as sportsmanship, discipline, teamwork, and pride in accomplishment, while emphasizing personal growth and good social behavior.
- Health and Safety: Ensure the safety, health, and welfare of all student-athletes by adhering to safety procedures and maintaining a safe and supportive environment.
- Community Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships between the athletic department and the community, parents, and school staff to support the program’s success.
- Compliance: Be fully aware of and ensure adherence to legal responsibilities and best practices, including proper precautions to prevent negligence.
- Program Administration: Monitor and maintain an inventory of equipment and supplies, ensuring the program runs smoothly.
- Role Model: Set a positive example for student-athletes by demonstrating professionalism, leadership, and sportsmanship both on and off the field.
Collaboration: Work closely with the Athletic Director and Principal to set program goals, schedule practices and games, and contribute to the overall success of the athletics department.
Qualifications:
Prior experience coaching football at the high school or middle school level.
- Proven leadership in developing teams that achieve academic and athletic success.
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, parents, and the community to create a positive and supportive athletic environment.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with students, staff, and parents.
- Demonstrated knowledge of flag football techniques, strategies, and safety procedures.
Ability to plan, supervise, and conduct effective team practices and games.
Attend practices and games
Additional Responsibilities:
Ensure good safety procedures are followed during all practices and games.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director or Principal.
