Description
The X-Clinic Outreach Worker reports directly to the X-Clinic Supervisor. The goal of the X-Clinic Outreach Worker is to improve outreach strategies to increase the volume of patients coming into the X-Clinic. An ideal Outreach Worker will work with the Communicable Disease Prevention Program (CDPP) and community partners to develop and implement events for the community we serve to raise awareness about the X-Clinic, and the importance of testing and preventing STIs/HIV/HCV. A successful Outreach Worker will have a passion for social justice, equitable and affordable care, and a desire to meet our community where they are at.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead planning for outreach activities aimed at reaching our target populations: youths, black and brown men who have sex with men, and non-US born individuals.
- Maintain accurate records of activity including number of events, referrals to X-Clinic, names of community partners/organizations.
- Represents X-Clinic/Codman Square Health Center at off-site health events in the community, at workshops, health fairs, and other events as assigned.
- Tracks and maintains inventory on all outreach materials and supplies and works with Communications/Marketing team to purchase more when necessary.
Oversee and meet the goals and deliverables of the Boston Public Health Commission (BPHC) Education
Perform other Duties, Responsibilities, Locations as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand or sit for prolonged periods ·
- Must be able to lift 10-25 pounds.
- Visual acuity sufficient for frequent reading and computer use.
- Hearing acuity sufficient for holding conversation with or without audio devices.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate degree or minimum of 2 years related work experience in STI/HIV/HCV field.
- Familiarity with Epic EMR.
- Knowledge and experience with HIV services, including HIV education/prevention (PrEP), outreach and counseling.
- Critical thinking, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills.
- Prior experience working with LGBTQ Community.
- Ability to connect with community members of various cultural, ethnic, and racial backgrounds.
- Ability to work M-F 8:30a-5p with some evenings and weekends possible. Hours will be shifted to keep a 40-hour work week.
