JOB TITLE: LTCC Student Nurse Tech
DEPARTMENT: Long Term Care Center Nursing
REPORTS TO: Director of Nursing
JOB SUMMARY
The student nurse tech assists in providing care to Long Term Care Center Residents and assists residents with activities of daily living under the direction and supervision of a designated registered nurse/preceptor. May perform other non-resident care duties as assigned. The staff member must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the residents served on his or her assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each residents’ requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the unit's/area's/department's policies and procedures.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
The student nurse tech must be enrolled in an acceptable nursing education program in the State of Wyoming. (School recognized by the Wyoming State Board of Nursing). Certified enrollment verification must be provided by the employee. Out of state applicants must be pre-approved by the Wyoming Board of Nursing. The student nurse tech is not licensed by the Wyoming Board of Nursing. Thus, the student nurse tech must be concurrently enrolled in the Northwest College Student Nurse Tech class or other Wyoming State Board of Nursing approved class.
EXPERIENCE
The student nurse tech will have completed at least one year of nursing education with clinical hours involved. The employee must request a certified grade transcript to be sent to HR. Preference given to applicants with a valid Wyoming CNA or LPN license.
SKILLS
The School of Nursing will provide documentation of level of training to facilitate appropriate assignments, proof of enrollment, and evidence of grades at or above 80%.
