JOB TITLE: Radiation Therapist
DEPARTMENT: Radiation Oncology
REPORTS TO: Cancer Center Director
JOB SUMMARY
The Radiation Therapist is responsible for the application and execution of ionizing radiation in accordance with the prescription and instructions of the radiation oncologist. The Radiation Therapist performs routine, complex, and specialized work as well as integration and administration of new technology. Complex patient procedures may include: stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS); advanced use of electronic radiation oncology software, optical guidance, IGRT, respiratory management, intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), cone beam CT imaging (CBCT), and SBRT. In addition to performing complex procedures independently, the Radiation Therapist is responsible for patient scheduling, anticipating changes in field boosts, simulations, dose limitations, and proper billing and documentation.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Graduation from an accredited Radiation Therapy program.
- Current technologist license in the State of Wyoming required.
- Current ARRT (T) in Radiation Therapy required.
- Membership of ASRT preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Prefer at least one year of experience as a radiation therapist
SKILLS
- Knowledge of radiation principles.
- Proficient computer and typing skills required, and ability to learn new applications.
- Knowledge and skilled in using Microsoft Office Suite products.
- Excellent communication skills, and ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically within a multi-functional team.
- Ability to perform effectively in highly stressful situations.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to successfully function in a fast paced, service oriented environment.
- Must be able to interact effectively with a wide variety of people.
- Must have well-developed written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of aseptic techniques and infection control principles.
- Ability to take pertinent, concise history.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Able to serve as an example to other employees.
- Provide compassionate care to the oncology patient population.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS
Current BLS (AHA) certification.
