Position Title : Senior Geologist– Geological Modelling
Position Overview :
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Geologist with a focus on Geological Modelling to join our dynamic Corporate Exploration Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading geological modelling projects and workflows at all of Coeur’s sites, ensuring onsite teams achieve the required standards in terms of quality and best practice. The incumbent will collaborate with Technical Services for incorporation of the geology models into resource estimation and provide support for any additional exploration and due-diligence studies. The successful applicant will be responsible for training and mentoring of Coeur’s geologists and geotechnicians in the data acquisition and modeling process. This role requires extensive experience in 3D geological modelling, data integration and the application of geological software tools.
Key Responsibilities :
- Technical Leadership : Mentor site-based geologists and provide technical guidance on geological modelling best practices. Review work of team members and offer constructive feedback to improve modelling techniques.
- Geological Modelling : Lead and manage geological modelling efforts using 2D sectional interpretations to create 3D wireframes using Leapfrog / Micromine. Create 3D models that accurately represent geological formations, mineralization, and structural features.
- Data Integration and Analysis : Integrate geological, geophysical, geochemical, and drilling data to develop robust geological models. Ensure data quality, consistency, and accuracy throughout the modelling process.
- Resource Estimation : Work closely with resource geologists and mine planning teams to develop resource estimates based on geological models. Assist with the preparation of technical reports for regulatory submission and internal decision-making.
- Interpretation and Visualization : Provide geological interpretations based on model results and geological data, and communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Project Management : Manage geological modelling projects from inception to completion, ensuring that timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including geochemistry, geophysics, structural geology / geotechnical engineering, and resource estimation specialists.
- Continuous Improvement : Stay updated on industry trends, new software, and modelling techniques. Recommend and implement improvements to the geological modelling processes to enhance the quality and efficiency of models.
- Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) : Comply with all HSE guidelines, ensuring that geological modelling activities are conducted in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.
