THE JOB
The Risk Management Specialist role supports the Regional Risk Manager in all aspects of the enterprise-wide risk management program for the North American Region. Responsibilities include facilitating the implementation of the Risk Management Framework consistent with Coface Group Risk Management and compliance with local regulatory requirements for US and Canada. This role will complete these responsibilities by developing, reporting, and monitoring operational and enterprise-wide risks and identifying and assessing all material risks throughout the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the enterprise risk assessment activities, including risk committee meeting preparation and support, meeting minutes, and follow-up on deliverables.
- Contribute to the operational risk management process, including supporting the process for Level 1 controls, completing Level 2 controls review with all operation and risk owners, effectively challenging Level 1 controls, identifying gaps in controls, and developing and monitoring action plans.
- Contribute to Group Risk Management objectives and initiatives and local implementation of those global objectives and initiatives
- Contribute to the identification, research, and reporting of cybersecurity risks, including overseeing the vendor risk management and cybersecurity;
- Conduct face-to-face risk mapping interviews with individuals responsible for day-to-day operations. Manipulate, analyze and interpret data gathered during the interviews. Monitor and analyze risk mapping self-assessments conducted by the operational teams and risk owners and monitor and report the risk mapping results.
- Contribute to the Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (“ORSA”) process by executing risk-related activities and analyses, including portfolio review and stress testing. Actively contribute in the execution of scenario analyses for Financial Conditions Testing and ORSA
- Manage the assessment, monitoring and reporting of operational incidents and losses
- Manage and oversee the identification, monitoring, and assessment of critical and top risks impacting Coface North America
- Participate in and support the “Second Line of Defense” activities, including partnering with the operational teams on controls, risk assessment and operational incident and losses reporting,
- Support the risk team’s reporting obligations internally and externally and ad-hoc requests.
- Communicate effectively in writing and in-person with business partners and executives using email, reports, risk interviews, presentations, etc.
- Develop and maintain collaborative partnerships with support functions: HR, Compliance, Finance, and Business Technology
- Contribute to the development and implementation of risk training for all employees
- Assure organizational compliance with all-risk policies
- Assist with responses to internal audit requests
- Participate in all department projects.
THE CANDIDATE
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:
- 2 – 5 years of insurance, financial, accounting and/ or risk management experience, preferably in the financial services industry
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a specialization in Finance, International Business and/or Risk Management required.
- Self-starter who is customer focused, internally motivated, intellectually curious, and self-confident.
- Superior spreadsheets skills and a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, in particular MS Excel. Utilize other analytical, collaboration, and reporting tools to innovate on internal processes
- Ability to work independently while representing the department with the highest level of professionalism.
- Superior collaboration skills. Works well and builds trust within the risk team and with teams across the organization.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive relationships across the enterprise.
- Knowledge of Insurance financial accounting principles, practices and procedures
- Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills are required.
- Up to 5% travel
