Shift Leader at Coffee Shop

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-oriented individual to join our team as an Assistant Manager at our busy coffee shop. The Assistant Manager will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the coffee shop, providing exceptional customer service, and supporting the overall success of the business. This is a hands-on position that requires strong leadership skills, a passion for the coffee industry, and the ability to effectively manage a team.

Customer Service:

• Ensure outstanding customer experiences by greeting and serving customers in a friendly and efficient manner
• Respond to customer inquiries, resolve complaints, and handle any issues that may arise
• Maintain a welcoming and clean environment for customers, both inside the coffee shop and at the drive-through

Team Management:

• Supervise and support a team of 12 employees, including baristas, bakers, and kitchen staff
• Train new team members on company policies, procedures, and product knowledge
• Schedule employee shifts, taking into account business needs and staff availability
• Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and performance evaluations to team members, fostering a positive work environment

Operational Excellence:

• Oversee daily operations, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, food handling guidelines, and quality standards
• Monitor inventory levels, place orders for supplies, and maintain stock rotation
• Assist in the development and implementation of efficient operational procedures to optimize productivity and minimize waste
• Collaborate with the General Manager in creating and adjusting the menu to meet customer preferences and trends

Financial Management:

• Assist in monitoring and managing the financial aspects of the coffee shop, including cash handling, sales tracking, and expense control
• Prepare daily sales reports, identify areas of improvement, and implement strategies to increase revenue
• Collaborate with the General Manager to develop and adhere to the budget, making recommendations for cost reduction and revenue growth

Team Development and Training:

• Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork, open communication, and employee engagement
• Conduct regular staff meetings to communicate updates, share best practices, and encourage professional growth
• Identify training needs and provide ongoing development opportunities to enhance employee skills and knowledge

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in a supervisory or management role in the food and beverage industry, preferably in a coffee shop or similar environment
• Exceptional customer service skills with a genuine passion for creating positive experiences
• Strong leadership abilities, able to motivate and inspire a diverse team
• Excellent organizational and time management skills, capable of multitasking and prioritizing in a fast-paced environment
• Knowledge of coffee brewing techniques, espresso-based drinks, and food preparation
• Familiarity with health and safety regulations and food handling practices
• Proficient in using point-of-sale (POS) systems and basic computer skills
• Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
