The Coffee Shop/Bakery Manager & Roaster will lead this incredibly inclusive business. The Manager/Roaster will report to the Director of Development, Marketing & Business Operation (Coffee Inclusive) and fulfill all aspects of a Coffee Shop/Bakery Manager & Roaster in accordance with the vision and mission of Coffee Inclusive. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our coffee roasting, bakery and coffee shop in collaboration with and under the supervision of the Director of Development, Marketing & Business Operation (Coffee Inclusive), ensuring exceptional customer service, managing staff, and maximizing profitability. The Coffee Shop/Bakery Manager & Roaster will promote kindness and inclusion in addition to promoting coffee sales and baked goods consumption by educating customers; selling coffee, baked goods and merchandise; in addition to preparing and serving a variety of breakfast & lunch menus, coffee/tea drinks, along with pastries and other menu items
Job Duties:
- Oversee coffee roasting operations, including sourcing, roasting, and blending beans to ensure quality and consistency.
- Manage daily roasting schedules to meet demand and inventory needs, maintain roasting logs.
- Develop and refine roasting profiles to enhance flavor and quality.
- Monitor roasting curves and adjust parameters as needed.
- Operate, monitor and maintain roasting equipment to ensure consistent roasting profiles.
- Educate staff and customers on coffee origins, roasting techniques, and flavor profiles.
- Develop and implement quality control measures for roasted coffee.
- Ensure proper storage and freshness off roasted coffee beans.
- Contact businesses for potential contracts of coffee sales.
- Collaborate with the marketing and sales teams to develop new coffee blends and seasonal offerings.
- Manage day-to-day operations of the bakery and coffee shop.
- Prepare food, baked goods and other food menu items for sale to customers.
- Create recipes, order ingredients, and coordinate baking schedules to produce breads, cakes, pastries, pies, cookies, and other menu items.
- Decorate baked products using glaze, icing, and toppings to achieve a finished appearance.
- Assess the quality of raw materials before baking.
- Ensure profitability by maintaining an accurate record of baking operations.
- Plan, schedule, and supervise bakery production and shipping.
- Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of the establishment including equipment maintenance and proper storage of equipment and baking utensils.
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels for coffee, bakery items, and supplies
- Implement and enforce health and safety standards.
- Recruit, train and supervise staff, including baristas, roasters, and bakery staff
- Schedule and organize staff shifts to meet the operational requirements.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
- Encourage teamwork and maintain a positive working environment.
- Collaborate with the culinary team to develop and update the coffee shop and bakery menu.
- Ensuring high-quality and appealing food and beverage offerings.
- Monitor trends in the industry and incorporate innovative ideas into the menu.
- Manage budgetary constraints and work towards achieving financial targets.
- Control costs, including labor, inventory, and operation expenses.
- Handle money, daily register, and proceeds.
- Generate and analyze sales and financial reports to identify areas for improvement.
- Maintain updated records of daily, weekly, and monthly revenues and expenses.
- Develop and implement marketing strategies to attract and retain customers.
- Assist the development team with promotional events, fundraising events, or special events.
- Utilize social media and other marketing channels to increase brand visibility.
- Ensure compliance with local health and safety regulations.
- Build and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors.
- Negotiate contracts and agreements to ensure favorable terms.
- Provide excellent customer service to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Address customer inquiries, concerns, and feedback promptly and professionally.
- Foster a welcoming and inviting atmosphere for patrons.
- Flexible to work shifts and times required based upon the needs of the shop.
- Work as a barista, coffee attendant, roaster, baker, or server when needed.
- Supports co-workers with diverse abilities by patiently assisting so they can achieve independence and empowerment.
- Other related duties as required.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Work in a high-temperature environment near roasting machines, ovens, and other kitchen equipment.
- Stand for extended periods during operations.
- Flexible schedule, including weekends or early shifts.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 – 5 years in coffee roasting, with at least 1 year in a managerial or supervisory role.
- Associate Degree in a related field (Culinary Arts, Hospitality & Restaurant Management, Business Administration, Coffee science, etc.).
- Have culinary and restaurant management experience.
- Experience as a Baker, Pastry Chef or similar role is preferred.
- Experience with cake decoration techniques is preferred.
- Previous experience working with people with diverse abilities preferred.
- Strong leadership and organization skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Knowledge of coffee and bakery products.
- Understanding of health and safety regulations.
- Familiar with professional kitchen equipment, including mixer, blender and dough sheeters.
- Good math skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours (including weekends and holidays).
- Good customer service attitude.
- Food safety certifications as required by the state and other governmental entities.

Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
