Coffeyville Regional Medical Center, a non-profit critical access hospital, seeks an experienced Medical Scheduler Coordinator to coordinate non-surgical procedures, specialty visits and diagnostic services within the hospital. As a member of our team, you will be responsible for scheduling appointments, obtaining insurance authorizations and verifying patient information.
Key Responsibilities
- Schedules non-surgical procedures, specialty visits and diagnostics within the hospital per provider orders.
- Obtains insurance authorizations for hospital Specialty Clinics and diagnostic department services.
- Responsible for checking insurances being active at time of appointment.
- Responsible for verifying prior authorizations have been completed and are within the effective dates of scheduled appointments.
- Responsible for monitoring expired prior authorizations for upcoming appointments and renewing prior authorization if needed.
- Responsible for confirming all labs, physician notes, etc. are scanned into patient order before patient appointment is made.
- Maintains current knowledge of hospital patient business and financial policies.
- Maintains current knowledge on contractual requirements by insurance payors.
- Informs and facilitates patients of financial obligations for services. Along with calling patients to confirm their appointment date, time, and any prep needed.
- Communicate with patients and peers to respond to any queries or issues. This would include calling any outside providers with items missing on their physician order.
- Maintain confidentiality of all information according to HIPAA and company policy.
- Analytical ability to apply criteria and evaluate information to make decisions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; and excellent interpersonal skills in teaming with patients, medical staff and the public.
- Detail oriented with proven ability to multitask.
- Professional appearance and ease in developing rapport with others.
- Understanding of billing, patient care, and excellent customer service.
- Ability to type 45-60 WPM.
