GENERAL
Position Overview
Responsible for direction of patient care services in the Emergency Department. Consults with staff, physicians and Nurse Administration on nursing problems and interpretation of hospital policies to ensure patient needs are met. This position also serves as the Trauma Program Manager. Maintains performance improvement activities within the department and participates in CQI activities. Assists in formulating budget.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Graduate from an accredited registered school of nursing, BSN preferred. Successful completion of critical care course.
Experience
Three (3) or more years of previous experience in trauma emergency care and a minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience required.
Knowledge Of
Knowledge of medications and pharmacology at a level appropriate to the scope of licensure and professional expertise; general practice
medicine and medical terminology; standard diagnostic and medical equipment and instruments; proficient computer skills.
Licenses / Certifications / Registries
Current licensure as a Registered Nurse with the State of Texas. Current BLS and ACLS. Must have PALS within six (6) months of hire; TNCC, ENPC, and MICN within one (1) year of hire. Certification for Emergency Nursing (CEN) preferred.
