Job Title : VMware System Administrator

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled VMware System Administrator for a 3-month contract opportunity in Boise, ID. This role requires hands-on experience with Windows Server environments, VMware virtualization, and a strong background in system administration. Candidates must be able to work onsite from day one and be available for an in-person interview.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain Windows server infrastructure to ensure optimal reliability, performance, and security.
• Administer and monitor a VMware virtualized environment.
• Implement and manage network and server security protocols to safeguard systems and data.
• Perform routine system maintenance, apply patches and updates, and ensure timely upgrades.
• Manage Active Directory and Azure AD environments, including group policy, user access, and domain security.
• Execute and verify system backups, disaster recovery, and failover strategies.
• Provide Tier II technical support to helpdesk teams and end-users.
• Maintain detailed documentation on system configurations, procedures, and service records.
• Collaborate with cross-functional IT and security teams to align infrastructure with business goals.
• Coordinate with vendors for support and issue resolution.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience managing enterprise Windows Server environments.
• Proven expertise with VMware virtualization technologies.
• Solid experience in server monitoring, troubleshooting, and enterprise-level issue resolution.
• Skilled in implementing server backup and recovery solutions.
• Experience with Active Directory administration and automation of server tasks.
• Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, networking, and server/storage systems.
• Ability to pass a comprehensive background check.

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency in scripting (PowerShell) in a production environment.
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server administration and support.
• Knowledge of high-availability (HA) server design and maintenance.
• Experience managing digital certificates and certification authorities (CAs).
• Hands-on experience with SAN storage and virtualization environments (VMware, Hyper-V).
• Exposure to networking equipment (switches, routers, wireless access points).
• Familiarity with hybrid environments integrating Azure cloud services.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure, Office 365, and Microsoft InTune.
• Active Microsoft and/or VMware certifications are highly desirable.
