RECOMMENDED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of early childhood development, family-centered care principles and practices; social work theory and practice and their application to services for young children with special needs and their families; federal, state, and local legislation pertaining to children with special needs; cultural diversity issues and concerns that impact on working with families; multidisciplinary teaming; community resources; strength-based planning and their application to early intervention services; systems of payments for services; and confidentiality and protection of the rights of children and families.
Education
1. Master's degree from an accredited school of social work with a concentration in child and family or mental health preferred. Hawaii Licensed Social Worker (LSW) with the State of Hawaii or Academy of Certified Social Workers (ACSW) membership desirable.
2. Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university with a bachelor's degree with include a minimum or twelve (12) semester credit hours in courses such as counseling, criminal justice, human services, psychology, social work, social welfare, or other behavioral sciences.
