We currently have a role available for a Pharmaceutical Purification Chemist.
Job duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Assisting with daily laboratory preparation for electron microscope (EM) tasks (freezing, negative staining, etc.).
- Operating EM including image alignments, acquisition and microscope maintenance.
- Providing logistical support for day-to-day operations for scientists as well as consultation on data and results obtained.
- Maintaining ancillary, cryo-EM related equipment such as Vitrobot, glow discharger, Chameleon, etc.
- Evaluating data quality obtained by users and providing advice on strategies to improve data quality.
- Implementing data collection strategies that will increases structure throughput.
- Maintaining accurate logs for microscope performance and usage.
Job requirements include, but are not limited to:
- BS - Biochemistry, Structural Biology or related field with 3-5 years of industry experience (preferably pharma). MS - Biochemistry or related field with 1-3 years of industry experience would also be considered.
- Basic familiarity with Transmission Electron Microscopes theory and operation preferred.
- Familiarity with Linux environment and web interfaces preferred.
- Excellent communication skills – verbal and written.
- Works well both within a team and as an individual.
- Demonstration of excellent team player and collaboration skills, very strong attention to detail, very strong problem-solving skills, a high level of learning agility, and the ability to work across functions.
- The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic and self-motivated, with the leadership and communication skills necessary to operate effectively in a fast-paced multidisciplinary environment with flexibility and an adaptable approach to goal delivery.
