Cogent Scientific currently has a role available for an Experienced Analytical Chemist.
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
- Utilizing LC-MS and UPLC-MS to analyze reaction outcomes and purify synthesized samples as well as conducting preventative maintenance and troubleshooting as needed.
- Experience with Agilent models preferred.
- Performing and interpreting NMR experiments.
- Developing small scale (less than 10 mg) parallel library synthesis capabilities.
- Operating (and strong background knowledge) of liquid handlers, solid dispensers, and related automation instrumentation.
- Preparing and executing reaction optimization and other types of syntheses.
- Will also be developing and implementing new methods as well as creating SOP’s relating to optimization and synthesis.
- Collecting, organizing, and analyzing data from experiments.
- Maintaining detailed and accurate records of experimental procedures, conditions, and outcomes in electronic notebook and additional databases.
- Generating reports summarizing findings to communicate with chemists.
- Managing reagent library.
- Utilizing software tools to interpret results and draw conclusions from screens.
- Performing routine maintenance on laboratory equipment and troubleshoot any malfunctions.
- Participating in and reporting results during regular team meetings to discuss progress and address challenges.
- Maintaining a clean, safe laboratory environment according to company Chemical Hygiene Plan.
Job requirements include, but are not limited to:
- PhD – Chemistry with 3-5 years industrial experience (preferably pharma). BS - Chemistry or related field with 8-10 years of industry experience or MS - Chemistry with 5-8 years of industry experience would also be considered.
- Working knowledge of synthetic and medicinal chemistry preferred.
- Excellent communication skills – verbal and written.
- Works well both within a team and as an individual.
- Demonstration of excellent team player and collaboration skills, very strong attention to detail, very strong problem-solving skills, a high level of learning agility, and the ability to work across functions.
