What are the responsibilities and job description for the CT - Senior Staff Accountant position at Coghlin Companies Inc?
Assist in maintaining the integrity of the general ledger by preparing analysis necessary for financial statement preparation, journal entries, account analysis and other general accounting functions.
Responsible for maintaining accounting policies and procedures that ensure the highest level of efficiency while maintaining appropriate internal controls and compliance with US GAAP.
Perform general ledger account reconciliations and prepare adjusting journal entries. Provide explanations. Identify and resolve problems.
Generate accurate, complete and timely reports and analysis on request.
Collaborate with various departments to analyze and resolve problems.
Assist with the timely completion of the month-end close through the preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and period-over-period account fluctuation analysis.
Prepare monthly inventory roll forward and reconciliation of inventory subsidiary schedules including WIP to general ledger.
Responsible for setting standards for new manufacturing parts based on bill of materials and operations. Update standards cost for manufactured and purchased parts as necessary.
Assist with comparing actual product margins to quotes and related variance analysis.
Responsible for inventory quantity adjustments, inventory issues, and PPV.
Assist with oversight of Accounts Payable to resolve any vendor issues, perform reconciliations, and review aging schedules. Oversight includes monitoring and assisting with returns to vendor, un-invoiced receipts, and prepayments. Enforce best practices of function and improve processing accuracy and volume. Report on function metrics including discount analysis.
Support, enforce, and help implementation internal controls, process improvements and operational efficiencies identified by Corporate Controller and Assistant Corporate Controller.
Approach work and tasks with increasing analytical perspective to determine if results and amounts are reasonable and supported by other data.
Special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent required.
3-5 years of related experience preferred.
Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel.
Strong analytical skills.
Strong inter-personal skills
Willingness to be "hands on".
Commitment to growth and learning within Finance department.
Able to work independently and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
Working Environment
Generally, works in an office environment, but may occasionally be required to perform job duties outside of the typical office setting.
Physical Requirements
Must have a reliable form of transportation and ability to travel to other company locations.
Flexibility to work extended hours when needed.
