The Planetarium Director will educate and inspire children and adults to learn and explore the Earth and universe in a dynamic way. The individual will learn and understand the planetarium as a tool and the included curriculum in order to best facilitate its use. The individual will present lessons related to astronomy and earth science and serve as a positive ambassador for COGNiTION while interfacing with all stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Will have a strong working knowledge/interest in astronomy and earth science, and can lead events related to planetarium study.
- Will encourage participants to explore all learning opportunities related to planetarium study.
- Will easily adapt to the needs of a diverse range of audiences representing a wide range of ages, backgrounds, and abilities.
- Will attend pertinent trainings.
- Will host scheduled events related to planetarium study at Cognition or at other locations.
- Will ensure all equipment and systems are working effectively and are cleaned after every use.
- Will be responsible for lifting up to 35 pounds of equipment needed for the exhibits. Will be able to complete set-up and tear down of the planetarium and all components.
- Will work with the Planetarium Director on curriculum ideas and feedback.
- Will maintain a high level of professionalism while representing the organization.
- Will complete all other tasks assigned by the supervisor.
