Lead Database Architect and Administrator - Sybase

Location: Columbus, GA

Lead the design and implementation of database infrastructure solutions to support business applications and services.

Oversee the administration and maintenance of IBM Cloudant DB Sybase DB and IBM DB2 LUW DB environments.

Provide technical guidance and support to the development and operations teams to ensure database performance security and availability.

Establish and uphold database standards to maintain data integrity and consistency.

Conduct performance tuning and optimization of database systems to enhance efficiency and reduce latency.

Implement and manage backup and recovery strategies to protect critical data and ensure business continuity.

Collaborate with multi-functional teams to define and implement database solutions that meet business needs.

Monitor database systems for potential issues and proactively address them to prevent downtime or data loss.

Evaluate and recommend new database technologies and tools to improve system performance and reliability.

Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for database configurations processes and procedures.

Ensure compliance with industry regulations and company policies related to data security and privacy.

Contribute to assessments for future growth and demand scalability.

Deliver training and mentorship to junior database administrators and other team members.

• Extensive experience with IBM Cloudant DB Sybase DB Administration and IBM DB2 LUW DB Admin.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex database issues.
• Superb communication and collaboration skills for working effectively with diverse teams.
• Deep understanding of database architecture design and performance optimization techniques.
• Proficient in developing and implementing database backup and recovery strategies.
• Experience with database monitoring tools and techniques to ensure system health and performance.
• Proficient in industry regulations and standard methodologies concerning data security and privacy.
• Proven track record of successfully leading database projects and initiatives.
• Able to work independently and manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
• Strong commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
• Diligent and able to build and maintain accurate documentation.
• Experience with hybrid work models and the ability to adapt to changing work environments.

• Certifications Required: IBM Certified Database Administrator Sybase Certified Professional IBM Certified Advanced Database Administrator

The annual salary for this position is between $ 88,200 to $161,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
