What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Accountant position at Cogs?
We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join a rapidly growing player in the utility scale Solar space.
Responsibilities:
- Perform monthly and quarterly closing activities, including intercompany reconciliations, journal entries, and account reconciliations;
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with German GAAP (HGB) and IFRS, with a focus on IFRS 15 and the correct application of accounting standards for EPC and construction projects;
- Perform quarterly financial reporting to banks, ensuring accuracy and compliance with external requirements;
- Work within DATEV and SAP S4/HANA systems for daily bookings, reporting, and analysis;
- Manage daily financial operations such as Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP), ensuring smooth coordination with the finance team;
- Collaborate with the team to implement and maintain accounting policies and procedures to support our growing operations;
- Good understanding of VAT-related tasks, ensuring proper documentation, compliance, and reporting;
- Collaborate closely with external tax advisors and auditors.
Requirements:
- Successfully completed studies in business administration, accounting, or a related field;
- 5 years of professional experience in accounting and financial reporting;
- Strong knowledge of German GAAP (HGB) and IFRS, especially IFRS 15, and experience with accounting for EPC and construction projects;
- Proficiency with DATEV and SAP S4/HANA is required;
- Good understanding of VAT;
- Proven ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines in a dynamic environment;
- Analytical mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvements;
- Fluent in German and English, both written and spoken;
- A team player with excellent communication skills and a strong customer-oriented attitude.
