Senior Silicon Photonics Quality and Reliability Engineer

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and enforce quality and reliability standards and procedures for Silicon Photonics PIC products to meet Coherent's stringent criteria.
• Lead industry-leading process certification, product qualification, test and manufacturing quality efforts, overseeing product lifecycle management from inception to end-of-life.
• Work closely with internal product development teams, offering comprehensive support across all stages of product development.
• Act as a proactive advocate for Design for Quality and Reliability, ensuring alignment with key stakeholders.
• Contribute to defining reliability requirements and developing automated screening methodologies for Silicon Photonic PIC products, aligning with corporate quality standards and goals.
• Conduct risk assessments, manage material containment and excursions, and lead investigations and failure analyses to drive continuous improvement.

Education & Experience

• BS/MS/PhD in Material Science, Physics, Photonics, or related fields.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in roles focused on product certification, test and manufacturing quality, and reliability engineering.

Skills

• Proficiency in industry-standard problem-solving techniques such as 5 Whys, 8D, and Fishbone analysis.
• Extensive background and expertise in Photonic device fabrication and backend processing.
• Familiarity with integrating silicon photonic PICs in optical transceivers is a plus. 
• Familiarity with reliability statistics, Physics of Failure (PoF), and failure analysis methodologies.

• Ability to perform tasks in an office environment. 
• Ability to lift upto 50 lbs  as needed.
