Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Simulation
- PS Coating Simulation: Model the reduced electric field at the interfaces of dielectric layers and waveguides (WGs) using various programming tools (Essential Macleod, Python, etc.).
- Facet COMD Simulation: Investigate the interfaces of dielectric and ZnSe passivation layers in WGs using programming languages like Python / MATLAB, etc., taking advantage of our world record of passivation technology.
- PCSEL Simulation: Conduct simulations of PCSELs incorporating ZnSe using Python, referring to Crosslight results from Tawee/Guoli.
- Epi defect simulation: Simulate the defect propagation via the growth, referring to DDM defect data.
- Hands-On Skills
- ZnSe Passivation System Introduction: Familiarize the intern with the ZnSe passivation system.
- Supervised ZnSe Processing: Engage in running the ZnSe process under supervision, potentially on research and development samples (PCSEL, SBR, MIT-LL,etc.).
- COMD Testing: Test the COMD of UMB with a COMD tester to become familiar with laser concepts such as light power, voltage, resistance, and current, etc.
- Equipment Maintenance: Participate in equipment maintenance tasks, including resetting the PLC for the robot arm in the cluster chamber and replacing plasma cavities.
- Data Analysis
- Yield Data Consolidation: Upgrade and consolidate yield data from YR and CC using Python programming, potentially leveraging AI assistance.
- Report Automation: Streamline the process of downloading and analyzing reports, which currently demands effort from two engineers and is time-consuming (currently done with Excel VBA)
- Intern - some college
