Position Summary:
The dialysis nurse's responsibilities include overseeing hemodialysis and peritoneal treatments required by patients suffering from acute or chronic kidney failure as ordered by physicians. The nurse will be required to travel to and from hospitals managed by the company.
To be successful as a dialysis nurse, you should be compassionate toward patients and able to handle stressful situations. Ultimately, an exceptional dialysis nurse should have an excellent bedside manner, and demonstrate outstanding communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Requirements:Position Qualifications:
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Oklahoma
- Certification through the Nephrology Nursing Certification Commission preferred
- Current BLS, ACLS, PALS Certification
- Prior experience working as a Dialysis Nurse
- Excellent communication and time-management skills with ability to work independently
- Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance.
- Working knowledge of computer and software applications used in job function (Word, Excel, Outlook and EMR software)
- Current Automobile insurance coverage
- Workable knowledge of Medicare criteria and standards
- Willing to be on-call as assigned
- Must be able to travel frequently
- Must have 2 years of dialysis experience
Primary Position Responsibilities:
- Checking and recording patients’ vitals before, during, and after dialysis treatment.
- Ensuring that hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis treatments are administered to patients correctly.
- Monitoring patients during dialysis treatment to identify any adverse reactions.
- Preparing and updating nursing care plans.
- Perform thorough assessments and verification of dialysis prescription.
- Promptly notifying the appropriate medical practitioner of any problems that occur during dialysis treatments.
- Working with the dialysis technicians to ensure that dialysis machines and equipment are set up and tested correctly.
- Educating patients on dialysis treatment options, kidney disease management, as well as suitable nutrition and exercise regimens.
