Job Summary
This position provides safe and efficient traffic control and laboring at road construction worksites. This position may operate CDL required vehicles as well. You must have a CDL-A license for this position. Preforms manual tasks required to complete the project in observance of the safety guidelines. This is a union position.
Main Responsibilities
- Perform all work in a safe manner, maintaining an excellent safety environment
- Participate in daily safety huddles
- Set-up and take down temporary work zones efficiently
- Optimal traffic control in and around work zones (flagging) crafting a safe environment for traffic and onsite workers
- Assist in backing and dumping of tri-axles and milling machines
- Shovel asphalt and aggregate materials
- Luting / raking asphalt and aggregates
- Handling of hot liquid asphalt and various materials
- Remove old asphalt, concrete and other materials using a jackhammer or cut-off saw
- Erect and remove delineating devices such as barrels and cones
- Seal end joints
- Help fill water tanks on equipment as needed
- Compact material with small hand rollers and vibratory plates
