Heavy Equipment Operator (Grade Crew) - Duncan, SC

Mission

Reeves Construction Company is looking for an EXPERIENCED Heavy Equipment Operator based out of Duncan, SC location. The successful candidate for this role will have an uncompromising focus on safety excellence.

Qualified candidate must be able to effectively operate an Excavator, Loader, Bulldozer to achieve desired goals of the plans and specifications specific to the job. The successful candidate for this role will have an uncompromising focus on safety excellence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Must have a basic knowledge of the mechanics and hydraulics of the machine.
• Must have skills to conduct an inspection checklist on equipment such as tracks, lights, brakes, fuel, oil and water.
• Must keep equipment serviced, lubricated, and in good working order, including good housekeeping.
• Must have an understanding of slope and grade stakes information, type of slope (4:1 or 2:1), ditch cut depths, and fill section heights.
• Must have the ability to operate the vehicle safely in job site situations and follow the policies and procedures of the Company.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Qualifications and Skills Required

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
• Strong knowledge of plans and specifications, OSHA Trenching Requirements, and Safety Protocol.
• Candidate must be at least 18 years of age.
• Valid driver’s license (preferred).
• Must have adequate transportation to work.
• Ability to work in a number of diverse locations is pertinent, as work locations my change daily.
• Expected Hours: hours will vary by job, location and season. Working a night shift may be required.
• Six months to one year experience operating the equipment.
• Must adhere to safety procedures and guidelines at all times.
• Punctuality, consistent attendance and self-direction for the success of the operations.

• Must be able to climb onto and up and down a machine several times a day.
• Must be able to sit in a machine and operate it for several hours without stopping.
• Must withstand vibration from track and job site conditions as well as noise from other equipment.
• Must be able to use arms, hands, and feet in repetitive motions.
• Must be able to perform manual duties, such as placing paint drums on the vehicle.

The employee frequently is required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Employees must have 20/40 vision, either naturally or with corrective lenses. Hearing should be excellent or corrected by audio device.
