Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Operate and maintain loaders
  • Responsible for the efficient working conditions of the loaders. This includes performing routine maintenance including minor servicing, maintenance, and cleaning of the loader.
  • Responsible for alerting the serviceman of any significant problems.
  • Maintain hopper levels to achieve maximum production.
  • Maintain stockpiles and pit floor.
  • Load trucks.
  • Assist with maintenance around the asphalt plant.
  • Check fuel supplies at sites to ensure adequate availability.
  • Monitor operations to ensure that health and safety standards are met.
  • Keep records of material or equipment usage or problems encountered.
  • Must have the initiative, ability, and willingness to perform and assist with other job positions for job completion as requested.

Required Skills, Qualifications and Competencies


  • The ideal candidate will have 2 or more years of Heavy equipment experience.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to operate the loader, excellent safety awareness, and a willingness to comply with company policies and safety standards.
  • Must understand proper stockpile management methods.
  • Must be able to utilize proper methods to blend material while feeding.
  • Effective communication with other operators, truck drivers, and the general public is critical.
  • Must have the ability to operate and maintain Loader with little or no supervision.
  • Must have reliable transportation and have the ability to travel.
  • Must wear proper attire at all times including: safety vests, safety glasses, long pants, above the ankle/safety-toed shoes, and reflect a clean and presentable image.
  • Continuous mental and visual attention is necessary to safely and effectively complete work tasks.
  • Project a positive and cooperative attitude by maintaining courteous and professional conduct with Supervisors, co-workers, customers, and the general public.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to climb onto and up and down a machine several times a day.
  • Must be able to sit in a machine and operate for several hours without stopping.
  • Must withstand vibration from job site conditions as well as noise from other equipment.
  • Must be able to use arms, hands, and feet in repetitive motions.
  • Must be able to perform manual duties such as placing paint drums on the vehicle.


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach and signal with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee frequently is required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
