JOB DESCRIPTION

• Employment as a teacher
• Demonstrated interest in and aptitude for performing the tasks listed
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate and acceptable

REPORTS TO

• Athletic Director and Principal

JOB GOAL

• To help each participating student achieve a high level of skill, an appreciation for the values of discipline and sportsmanship, and an increased level of self-esteem

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Coaches individual participants in the skills necessary for achievement in the sport involved
• Plans and schedules a regular program of practice in the season
• Works closely with the Athletic Director and/or building principal in scheduling intramural and interscholastic contests
• Recommends purchase of equipment, supplies, and uniforms as appropriate
• Maintains necessary attendance forms, insurance records, and similar paperwork
• Oversees the safety conditions of the facility or area in which assigned sport is conducted at all times that students are present
• Establishes performance criteria for eligibility in interscholastic competition in the coach’s sport
• Enforces disciplined and sportsmanlike behavior at all times, and establishes and oversees penalties for breach of such standards by individual students
• Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may from time to time be assigned by higher authority

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

• Terms of employment shall be consistent with the law relating to employment by a school system in the State of Alabama. Ten or eleven-month year, with a salary scale established by the Board for this position.

SALARY

• Salary in accordance with Board approved State Salary Schedule.

EVALUATION

• The performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s Policy on Evaluation of Certified Personnel.
