NTC Bus Driver/Custodian
Reports to: Transportation Director
Supervises: n/a
Qualifications: Valid CDL with passenger and air brake endorsement, State of Oklahoma bus driving certificate, Yearly physician’s statement certifying fitness for duty
Job Goal: Provide safe and efficient transportation for students to and from Northeast Tech in Kansas, OK. programs.
Evaluation: Annually by the Transportation Director
Regular Requirements: Sit for extended periods; climb bus steps; twist at the neck and trunk; bend at the waist; stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl.
Occasional Requirements: Reach with hands and arms overhead, above shoulder, and horizontally. Lift/move up to twenty-five pounds.
Visual Requirements: Close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, ability to adjust focus.
Hearing/Speaking Requirements: Adequate to exchange information.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate district buses safely, including obeying all traffic laws and observing all mandatory school bus safety regulations.
- Inspect the bus for mechanical defects prior to each operation and clean the bus after each operation.
- Complete all required paperwork, including preventive maintenance trip worksheets.
- Promptly report any accident and complete the required paperwork.
- Follow the assigned schedule and routes. Only transport authorized students.
- Notify the supervisor of mechanical failure, late arrival, or other difficulties.
- Maintain order and discipline on buses (based on school policy) and promptly report any disciplinary problems to the transportation director.
- Exercise professionalism during school trips.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, board policies, and procedures.
- Utilize professional behavior in all school-related interactions.
- Perform all other tasks as requested by the supervisor.
CUSTODIAN
Job Goal: Ensure that our district facilities are maintained in a clean and safe condition.

Occasional Requirements: Lift/move up to seventy-five pounds.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
As Needed and Ongoing
- Keep buildings and premises (sidewalks, driveways, and play areas) always neat and clean.
- Know locations, proper care, and use of all firefighting equipment.
- Maintain clean and orderly storage rooms, including tools and supplies.
- Promptly report hazards to building principals.
- Operate and keep buffers, sanders, vacuum cleaners, and other janitorial equipment.
- Move equipment and/ or furniture when needed. Set up and remove folding tables and other equipment for lunch, recreation, or special events.
Daily:
- Stock and keep all bathrooms supplied throughout the day.
- Sweep and mop all the hallways and rooms.
- Perform light maintenance in and around the building.
Other:
- Utilize professional behavior in all school-related interactions.
- Perform all other tasks as requested by the supervisor.
This hybrid job has a separate pay scale for the custodian and bus driver. The bus driver rate starts at $17.25, and the Custodian rate starts at $12.33.
