The DNA Learning Center (DNALC) of Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory has a full-time educator position available at the Regeneron DNA Learning Center in Sleepy Hollow, NY. This center, which opened in fall 2019, is a unique collaboration between an established research institute and a rising star in biotechnology. The facility has two teaching labs and is located on the Sleepy Hollow campus of Regeneron Pharmaceuticals. We are looking for a dynamic, engaging educator to join our team as we expand operations in Westchester County, NY and northern New Jersey.
- Position Responsibilities
- Providing hands-on genetics and molecular biology instruction to precollege students visiting the DNALC for academic year field trips, summer camps, and extended research projects;
- Delivering in-school instruction;
- Training and managing high school interns;
- Assisting with student research programs;
- Conducting teacher training;
- Developing teaching modules.
Selected candidates will become members of a small, influential group recognized worldwide as a leader in creating and disseminating new methods in genetics education, including the fields of genomics, bioinformatics, and data science. Strong candidates will have teaching experience and a background in biology. New York State teaching certification is a plus, but not required. The position demands a motivated self-starter who can work independently and as part of a team, with excellent writing, computer, and communication skills.
Education Required: Undergraduate Degree
Experience Required: 1-3 years
Flexible scheduling will require some weekend work. Some travel between DNALC facilities in Brooklyn, East Harlem, Cold Spring Harbor and Passaic County (New Jersey) and to local schools will be required for training and/or instruction.- Supplemental Information

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range and/or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.
