The Margin Manager plays a key role in driving profitability across the organization by effectively managing sales margins and ensuring adherence to financial standards. This position requires a proactive and analytical professional who can collaborate across departments and with external partners to monitor pricing strategies, control costs, and optimize margins. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential to support and improve the company’s food distribution operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and monitor sales margins, including Gross Profit (GP) percentage, GP dollars, GP per case, and GP per drop.
- Implement and maintain burden/standard costs for new and existing products.
- Conduct financial analysis and review daily orders for pricing discrepancies and cost errors.
- Track and analyze product cost and pricing trends by category to ensure profit goals are met while supporting sales growth.
- Supervised a team
- Provide actionable recommendations to enhance overall company profitability.
- Review and maintain bid items for contract compliance and margin maximization.
- Ensure cost accuracy during bid pricing calculations and the roll process.
- Collaborate with Sales leadership to identify and implement margin improvement strategies.
- Partner with the Sales team to analyze cost and margin fluctuations, pricing deviations, and sales opportunities.
- Work with the Procurement team to optimize inventory cost adjustments and manage aged inventory relief.
- Evaluate customer rebate and discount programs and consult with Senior Management for approval.
- Perform other related duties and projects as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience required.
- 4–6 years of experience in procurement, food sales, marketing, contract administration, or product costing.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Marketing, Accounting, or a related field.
- 6–10 years of relevant experience, preferably within the food distribution industry.
