Job Title: Transportation Supervisor
Location: Newark, NJ
Job Summary:
The Transportation Supervisor will report to the Operations Manager and be responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and timely deliveries within budget constraints using fleet of Class A trucks. This role supervises over 30 CDL drivers, overseeing fleet operations, equipment maintenance, safety, and repairs. The supervisor will also handle training, mentoring, and resolving delivery and customer service issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and manage a delivery team of 20 drivers, ensuring on-time and safe deliveries.
- Oversee safety management, fleet maintenance, and equipment repairs.
- Provide on-the-road training and shadowing for drivers as needed.
- Meet and exceed key performance indicators (KPIs) related to safety, on-time delivery, and operational efficiency.
- Recruit, hire, train, and retain team members, fostering a strong and motivated workforce.
- Troubleshoot routing software, GPS tracking systems, and other operational systems.
- Meet with customers and drivers to address and resolve delivery issues or follow-up needs.
- Ensure compliance with DOT, HOS, and FMCSA regulations.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Transportation Supervisor.
- Valid driver’s license required; Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
- At least 3 years of experience in supervising a team of 40 individuals.
- Strong safety management experience (3 years).
- Exposure to fleet maintenance and operations.
- In-depth knowledge of DOT, HOS, and FMCSA regulations.
- Experience with on-the-road training and driver mentoring.
- Computer literacy in Microsoft products, routing software, and GPS tracking systems.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Experience in food and beverage transportation.
- Familiarity with driver technology.
- Experience with ELD technology.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
