Status: Full-time; hourly position
Hours: Monday – Thursday: 6:00am -3:00pm; Friday: 6:00am – 12:00pm
JOB SUMMARY: In the Crane Operator Shot Saws position, you’ll be responsible for unloading semi- trucks and wire saw cars, operating the wire saws, and loading shot saw cars to set up the shot saws.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
- Unloads all semi-trucks and containers using an overhead crane
- Monitors the Demand Report to coordinate granite blocks to be cut based on need and priority
- Loads blocks onto saw cars according to the Demand Report
- Wedges blocks to ensure proper alignment and applies cement mixture to hold slabs while being cut
- Measures blocks and records dimensions on Saw Report
- Inspects cut slabs for cracks, seams and proper color
- Tags ad scans slabs with the handheld scanner
- Moves slabs to correct storage area and load block for shot saws
- Records thickness and job number on the block to identify how to cut the stone for the Saw Operators
- Maintains log of footage being sawn on each wire saw in database to ensure proper amount of material is cut for each job
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
- Must obtain forklift certification through Coldspring
- Able to judge distances, heights, weights and surroundings (machines, personnel and other vehicles) to safely operate crane
- General knowledge of stone tolerances to ensure safe movement of stone within the production areas
- Ability to work independently, with little or no supervision
- Mechanically inclined
- General math skills
- Read work orders or production tickets, which may include dimensional drawings
- Read tape measure, imperial and metric
- Work as a self-motivated team member who adheres to all safety protocols and is willing to cross-train as needed
