Job Title: Project Architect
Job Summary:
A Project Architect is a professional responsible for the design, construction document preparation, construction, and observation of construction projects. Accountable to meet and discuss their project requirements with clients. A Project Architect will manage one or more complex projects. They are expected to have a broad set of experience and knowledge. This leadership role requires oversight, guidance, and mentoring of others. Plans, organizes, and directs projects.
Responsibilities:
General:
- Conduct field observation and report the progress of construction to clients.
- Review shop drawings and submittals, respond to RFIs, prepare site observation reports, issue ASIs and change orders, process pay apps, and other contract administration tasks.
- Evaluate building design using sustainable design principles.
- Lead project coordination and site meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, and sub-contractors.
- Coordinate specifications with building plans and specifications writer.
- Recommendation and selection of building systems and materials.
- Conduct site analysis, including geotechnical, hydrological, environmental, social, and economic conditions.
- Conduct a constructability review.
- Coordinate consultants.
- Participate in evaluating the quality and progress of consultants' work.
- Responsible for complex projects.
- Oversee drawings, codes, building programs, and other similar materials.
- Oversee preparation of documentation in various architectural phases, including site plans, floor plans, building elevations, building sections, details, models, and renderings.
- Oversee preparation of specifications in coordination and building plans.
- Ensure building design meets client budget, schedule program, and basic design intent.
- Inspires creativity, critical thinking, and internal and external design excellence.
- Evaluate the quality of work and activities to ensure high standards throughout the firm.
- Participates in performance reviews, including setting job goals.
- Engages staff in dialogue on various design tasks, ensures adherence to the design/work process, and promotes the use of technology tools.
- Expresses the philosophy of the work using appropriate vocabulary.
- Fosters collaboration between offices, promoting and providing vision.
- Acts as a mentor, teacher, and coach to staff, guiding them through their careers.
- Ability to oversee the development of building documentation in modeling/drafting software (Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD).
- Strong understanding of project financials.
- Manage bidding and negotiation phase
- Select, manage, and coordinate consultants
Marketing & Community Engagement:
- Participate in developing and negotiating contracts with owners, contractors, and consultants.
- Business development activities, including marketing proposals, interviews, and conference attendance.
- Oversee selection of building systems (structural, mechanical, electrical, landscape, etc.)
- Work with the marketing team to track client and competition information.
- Work collaboratively with Project Managers to secure new clients and projects, including preparing proposals, interviews, and presentations.
Internal Leadership:
- Conduct quality assurance and quality control on own projects and projects under other's control.
- Lead project coordination and owner/site meetings with internal team members, external consultants, owner and contractor, and sub-contractors.
- Monitor individual and overall team performance.
- Motivate project teams.
- Act as a mentor, teacher, and coach to staff, guiding them through their careers.
- Leads coaching sessions and reviews for exciting staff.
- Advocates for learning, stewardship, and craft.
- Lead one or more teams through all phases of architectural document production.
Office Success:
- Conduct value engineering and basic cost estimating.
- Conduct bidding and negotiation phase.
- Assist in preparing project budget, schedule, and overall work planning.
- Conduct quality assurance and quality control on own projects and projects under other’s control.
- Manage and track change orders, pay apps, and other contractual modifications impacting budget and schedule.
- Develop and manage project budget, schedule, and overall work plan to return to target profit level.
- Strong understanding of project financials.

Qualifications:
A professionally accredited degree in Architecture/Engineering supporting a professional license is preferred
NCARB or NCEES certification preferred
LEED Green Associate Accreditation or LEED AP preferred.
1-5 years of experience Preferred
