Job Title: Structural Engineer
Job Summary:
The role of a Structural Engineer is to work independently on smaller projects. The Structural Engineer will be able to evaluate, select, specify, and engineer certain engineered systems or products for a project. A Structural Engineer will perform various tasks, including Revit design, calculations, and field work.
Responsibilities
- May be responsible for the review and sealing of their projects or the work of others.
- Development of job-specific discipline specifications independently for less complex projects.
- Works with and coordinates with architectural, interior, and other engineering disciplines to coordinate the project.
- Perform field work independently.
- Perform calculations using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software.
- Meet with clients and review projects as required.
- Must communicate design issues and solutions with the design team and clients.
- Must have an understanding of the design process and understand how buildings are constructed.
- Be able to develop project scope, budgets, and design approaches for smaller, less complex projects.
- Give guidance and mentor junior staff.
- Assist with the development of design standards.
- Assist PM’s and PIC’s with the development of proposals.
- This is not an exhaustive list of responsibilities. There may be other duties as assigned.
Skills:
- Ability to hand sketch and communicate concepts and ideas to others effectively.
- Strong experience with modeling/drafting software (Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD).
- Experience with general business and industry software (Microsoft Office suite. Newforma tools, etc.).
- Ability to lead a project through all phases of structural document production.
- Ability to check own work for accuracy and completeness.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is required
- A Professional Engineering license is required
- LEED accredited professional is preferred
- Minimum five years of experience
