Middle School PE Teacher

Cole Valley Christian is seeking God’s wisdom in finding a dynamic, spiritually gifted individual with a love for the Lord Jesus, and a desire to serve Him as part of a unified Christian school faculty and staff that revels in the opportunity to share God’s Truth in all we teach and do. We desire to strive for the excellence that God calls us to in preparing our students to impact the world for Christ. Therefore, we are seeking someone who first and foremost has a strong relationship with Christ that is evidenced in all aspects of their life.

Responsibilities:

• Teaches students physical education that improves students’ health related fitness (i.e. coordination, endurance, flexibility and strength) through developmentally appropriate lessons.
• Instructs students in body care through proper exercise and sound nutrition.
• Teaches age-appropriate individual and team sports to students, utilizing knowledge of sports techniques and of physical capabilities of students.
• Selects, stores, orders, issues, and inventories equipment, materials, and supplies used in physical education program.
• Manages behavior in classroom and implements rules and safety guidelines for all students in class.

1. What do you KNOW ABOUT your student(s)?

• A relationship with Jesus is the foundation of our model. Out of that, we desire to engage in meaningful relationships with our students. This enables us to know our students so we can better understand how they learn, making us better teachers for all our students.

2. What do you want them to KNOW AND BE ABLE TO DO?

• Our curriculum has been developed for all core departments and electives with ELOs (essential learning outcomes) for classes.
• We use Microsoft Teams as our online learning management tool.

3. How do you know if they KNOW IT?

• Our classroom teachers strive to assess each student authentically, accurately, and effectively with a simple goal – to promote student learning.
• We have developed a grading and assessment policy around the goal of student learning.

4. What will you do if they DON’T?

• We have implemented office hours after school during which all teachers are available in their classrooms for the first 30 minutes after school to help students.
• We have a Student Academic Services department for the purpose of supporting our students with diagnosed learning disabilities.

5. What will you do if they DO?

• We strive to effectively differentiate and engage in every class so that every student is challenged to their fullest potential.

• A demonstrated ability in the gift of classroom teaching which includes the following areas:

• Seamless biblical worldview integration
• Relating to middle and high school aged students while holding them accountable
• Engagement strategies that take advantage of multiple classroom setting
• Lesson and unit planning, organization, and calendar management
• Balanced and effective classroom management
• Differentiated instruction to meet different learning styles
• Integration of technology as a tool for student learning

• Technical Competency: Ability to navigate Microsoft applications and online tools.
• Middle school classroom training, coursework and/or experience.
• A bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Physical Education or Education with PE emphasis.
• Idaho State teaching certificate, or ability to obtain.
• Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) teaching certificate, or ability to obtain.

Job Data:

• Hours: Full-time
• Salary: Teacher salary schedule starts at $39,000. Actual salary is dependent on experience and education.
• Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability, life insurance and retirement plan.
• Time Off: In addition to all school-observed holidays, Thanksgiving break, Christmas break, and Spring break, position receives 5 paid personal days, 9 paid sick days, and 3 days bereavement leave per school year.
