Colebrook is looking for a full-time teacher for CTE Culinary Arts & Family Consumer Science Courses.
Core Areas of Focus for this position at Colebrook:
CTE Culinary Arts I: Students learn about healthy eating habits, meal planning, cooking techniques, and food safety and completion of the National Restaurant Association’s ProStart, Level 1 program. Successful completion of ProStart, Level 1 earns the students national certification.
CTE Culinary Arts II: Students build upon foundational skills, focusing on advanced techniques, food service industry knowledge, and hands-on mastery of culinary practices, including safety, sanitation, and nutritional principles. The course is designed to prepare students for further education at the post-secondary level, apprenticeship, or for employment at an entry level position within the culinary field.
Human Growth and Development: Students learn child development, relationships, and family dynamics. Stages of Development: Infancy to adolescence; Physical development: Fine motor skills, sensory development; Cognitive Development: Language acquisition, memory, and problem-solving skills; Social and Emotional Development: Students will learn about the development of social skills, emotions, and relationships, including topics like attachment, empathy, and self-regulation.
Textiles and Designs: Students learn about fabrics and potential careers. Apparel: Designing and creating clothing items; Home Textiles: Designing and creating items for home decor, such as pillows, curtains, or quilts; Construction Design: Color theory, patterns and textures, hand sewing, machine sewing, weaving, knitting, knotting, dyeing, screen printing, embroidery, appliqué, and other techniques; Career Exploration: Home decorator, Textile designer, Apparel Designer, Surface Designer, etc.
Self-Development, Community, & Career Exploration: Self-Development: Personal growth, leadership, and decision-making skills: Family and Community: Understanding family dynamics, relationships, and community involvement; Housing and Environment Understanding housing needs, home maintenance, and environmental sustainability.
