What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paralegal position at Coleman Litigation?
Coleman Litigation is a new, past faced boutique commercial and intellectual property litigation law firm serving clients throughout Florida, including in Fort Myers and Naples.
We are looking for an experienced Florida Registered Paralegal to join our team. The ideal candidate will:
1. Expertly undertsand the Florida Rules of Civil Procedure, the Florida Rules of General Practice and Judicial Administration, the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, the Local Rules of the Middle District of Florida, and the local rules and policies and procedures for the Twentieth Judicial Circuit;
2. Have experience with filing documents with the Florida Courts E-Filing Portal, filing documents with the federal courts including in the Middle District of Florida, serving documents including original pleadings in State and Federal courts, mailing documents, preparing cover letters and proposed orders, drafting motions, notices, pleadings, and court legal papers, managing case deadlines, preparing case management plans, preparing and serving subpoenas on third parties, scheduling telephone conferences, and calendaring deadlines;
3. Have experience with using Clio, including to bill their time, using Microsoft Office (including Word, Outlook, Excel, and Powerpoint), using Westlaw for legal research, using the docket systems in Collier and Lee County, and using the Florida Courts e-filing portal;
4. Have excellent organizational, communication, and management skills;
5. Be responsible for providing support for attorneys, including but not limited to, managing, updating, and organizing client files, updating clients, preparing legal documents including but not limited to, pleadings, notices, motions, and orders, managing the discovery process, and preparing the attorney and the client for all legal proceedings in each case, including but not limited to, at trail;
6. Be self-driven and flexible in a fast-paced working environnment; and
7. Have great reading comprehension skills and be a fast typer.
Required Skills & Work Experience:
- 5 years of experience as a Paralegal
- Extensive experience with Florida court's efiling system and CM / ECF
- Experience with Clio
- Skill in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint, Adobe Acrobat, Onedrive, etc.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Draft and file legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and briefs.
- Assist attorneys in preparing for trials and hearings.
- Organize and maintain case files.
- Maintain contact with clients and witnesses.
- Conduct interviews with clients, witnesses, and experts.
- Review documents for accuracy and completeness.
