Job Summary/Overview
The Community Safety and Loss Prevention Officer maintains the loss prevention plans of the companys construction divisions (On Top of the World Communities, Calesa) and commercial construction sites. Additionally, this position assists in inspecting residential amenities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determine corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follow up to ensure proper measures have been implemented.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Perform regular inspections of construction sites to ensure security, including locking all construction gates at the end of each business day and taking time-stamped photographs of locked and unlocked doors, gates, and construction material left in an open, accessible area.
- Regular inspections of entrance/exit gates to ensure they function correctly and are closed at appropriate times. Time-stamped photographs daily of these locations
- Periodic monitoring of entrance gates to detect possible entry of unauthorized persons
- Maintain proper legal signage at all construction sites
- Serves as a resource to construction management in developing strategies and tactics for loss prevention
- Serves as liaison with contractors to ensure their compliance with loss prevention strategies
- In the event of a loss due to theft or property damage, gather information to aid law enforcements investigations, including all documentation required.
- Ensures that practical corrective actions are implemented to address root causes of losses and to prevent recurrence of similar incidents
- Maintains in-field surveillance cameras to detect trespassing and other potential criminal activity
- Responds to reports of unauthorized residents or contractors parked on or using Common Areas and remove them. Photographs and documents of any damages
- Assists Resident Services with preventing and investigating community accidents involving safety hazards, trips, falls, etc.
- Responsible for investigative reports and forwarding them to Risk Management
- Participates in the Safety Committee
- Assists the Health and Safety Manager as needed
- Works with employees and management in the dissemination and enforcement of loss prevention policies and procedures
- Assists in inspecting resident amenities to detect existing or potential accident or health hazards, determine corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follow up to ensure measures have been implemented
- Assists in community disaster preparedness
- Attends monthly MCSO volunteer CERT and Community Patrol meetings
- Strives to maintain a safe working environment through prevention of accidents, preservation of equipment, and the achievement of safe working practices
- Performs all duties in adherence to company standards
- Maintains a positive and professional demeanor toward all residents, visitors, and co-workers
- Assists IT Security Administrator with surveillance camera installation and maintenance
- Employee would work shifts that extend after hours, i.e., 12:pm 8:pm Sunday Thursday or Tuesday Saturday. to check on Colen Built and other company-wide vulnerable sites during after-hour/non-work day schedules
- Performs other duties as assigned
The Safety and Loss Prevention Officer must be outgoing, self-confident, and organized,
Qualifications (Education, Experience, Technical Skills)
Education and Experience:
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Investigation and/or law enforcement experience preferred
- Safety-related certifications preferred
- CPR Trainer certifications preferred
Skills and Knowledge:
- Must be able to read, write, and understand English and have strong verbal and written communication skills
- Microsoft Office skills, with an ability to become familiar with company-specific programs
- Knowledge of loss prevention strategies and tactics
- Working knowledge of general liability insurance reporting
