Complete Job Description

Position:

A merchandiser / route driver’s responsibilities include driving a company truck within a predetermined route, restocking and servicing a variety of vending machines including snack, beverage, cold food, coffee and bill changers. Available routes are constrained to certain geographical regions with some accounts (customers) appearing frequently while other accounts are serviced periodically. The amount of accounts and equipment serviced is typically different each day of the week. The expectation of the merchandiser / driver is to maintain appropriate product levels while providing exceptional customer service, fulfilling customer requests and needs as well as performing basic routine maintenance of equipment at each account within the designated route.

Responsibilities and Expectations:

• Merchandising - restocking equipment according to assigned plan-o-gram, maintaining satisfactory levels of inventory, while observing trends and opportunities to increase customer satisfaction. Rotate product to ensure freshness and quality. Taking inventory of all products on a periodic cycle to accurately track levels of stock. Removing and reporting of damaged, out of date, unsold products.

• Delivery of Goods - Safely load truck on a daily basis with adequate amount of product to fill the amount of equipment listed for that day.

• Handling of Cash - Money is collected from machines on a predetermined basis, data is also recorded from each machine to help ensure accurate accounting. Cash handling protocols are in place to help protect personal and property safety. Coin mechanisms are to be filled when necessary to maintain proper equipment functionality. Collect and submit refund claims to the office regularly.

• Food Safety - Properly transport any perishable food according to company policy by keeping refrigerated items stored at a proper temperature, while also storing items susceptible to heat in a proper environment.

• Sanitation and Maintenance - Perform routine cleaning of equipment, including vending machines, coffee stations and microwaves. Minor repairs, fixes and equipment tests are to be performed as needed to ensure proper functionality.

• Handling of Property / Technology - Proper handling of company property including any vehicle, carts, access badges or keys and smartphones is required.

Job Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED

• Clean driving record

• Chauffeur's license

• Must meet DOT physical requirements

• Basic understanding of technology, using an iPhone or any smartphone at the minimum

• Prior experience with merchandising or retail is strongly preferred

• Prior experience driving a large box truck or similar is also strongly preferred

Physical Demands:

• Frequent lifting and moving items from 20 - 50 pounds

• Walking, standing for long periods of time

• Pushing / pulling fully loaded carts through halls, doorways, and over thresholds

• Squatting, twisting, bending, lifting are all required

• Climbing in and out of a vehicle multiple times daily

• The ability to perform the aforementioned above in varying conditions throughout the year in all seasons

The duties of this position may vary from time to time. Coley Canteen reserves the right to add or remove responsibilities at the discretion of Coley Canteen and its management. This is a general description of the duties and responsibilities and is not intended to be all inclusive. The nature of this job requires a candidate to be punctual and reliable as routes need to be serviced daily, Monday through Friday. This position will provide the minimum of 40 hours of work weekly, with the opportunity for overtime. At the time of this listing, nights and weekends are not required.
