Job Overview
This position is a multi-purpose process role in manufacturing that involves various tasks across different areas, including inbound, milling, meat slurry, and mixing. The primary responsibility is to perform all functions associated with manufacturing roles, excluding extrusion operator responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Inbound Duties:
- Loading trucks (live loads and staged loads) and operating a push-pull forklift at an expert level
- Direct ship responsibility, including proper disposition of hold product, food safety hold product, and released product
- JDEdwards functionality and BOL responsibility/accountability
- Trace Gains functionality and supporting Customer Service Rep with shipping department activities
- Communicating with forklift packaging and warehouse operators to replenish materials in a timely manner
- Managing the FIFO program for materials management and cross-training with other Logistic Material Handler positions
- Milling and Mixing Rooms:
- Scheduling and batching commodities and/or meat slurry into accurate batches for delivery through hammer mill mixing and screening systems
- Participating in setting strategy for processing systems to meet or exceed production schedules efficiently
- Performing preventative and downtime maintenance on area equipment and making incremental improvements
- Assisting maintenance/engineering in improving or upgrading current systems/equipment and providing input on new projects
- Developing and maintaining proficiency in inventory management systems and other business systems for accurate reporting
- Preparing and maintaining SOPs and training modules
- Accurately performing quality checks and completing documentation without error
- Maintaining a safe and clean work area
- Promoting high-quality team environments through teamwork and self-management
- Meat Room:
- Operating equipment to add slurry to the extrusion process
- Participating in setting strategy for processing systems to meet or exceed production schedules efficiently
- Performing preventative tasks and working with maintenance to complete equipment preventative maintenance, routine repairs, adjustments, and malfunction troubleshooting
- Assisting maintenance and engineering in improving and upgrading current systems/equipment and providing input on new projects
- Developing and maintaining proficiency in inventory management systems and other business systems for accurate reporting
- Preparing and maintaining SOPs and training modules
Requirements
- Minimum Qualifications:
- 18 years of age or older
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent education
- Willingness and ability to work varying shifts and schedules
- Ability to understand and effectively communicate in English
- Working knowledge of Safety, Quality, and Material Management Systems and procedures
- Ability to read and understand the daily production run schedule and execute to that plan
- Ability to communicate production, quality/food safety, or other business-critical information to managers and team members
- Preferred Qualifications:
- 3 years of manufacturing experience operating various machines
- 2 years of work experience within manufacturing, technical, or trade disciplines
- Working knowledge of food safety, GMP, HACCP, SPC
- Demonstrated competency in computer and PC software, including MS Office, Google, and email
- Knowledge of inventory control principles
- Experience with JD Edwards
Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range: $16.15 - $19.00 USD
Pay is based on multiple non-discriminatory factors, including but not limited to experience, job-related knowledge, education, skills, and office/market location. In addition to base salary, salaried employees are eligible for annual discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing, and long-term incentives in the form of Restricted Stock Units and/or Stock Options. All salaried employees are also eligible for a competitive benefits package, including insurance, retirement plans, vacation/PTO, paid holidays, and paid sick leave.
