Job Description :
The Electrical Project Engineer will be responsible for the design, engineering, and implementation of electrical systems for gas metering, regulation, and control facilities.
This includes tasks such as project engineering and design, product / process research, field technical support, and specification drafting.
The role requires strong coordination and communication skills, as the Engineer will frequently interact with various internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities :
Lead the design and engineering of site electrical power, lighting, pressure and temperature instruments, HVAC, electrical valve actuators, and SCADA equipment for gas metering, regulation, and control facilities.
Conduct thorough product and process research to ensure optimal design solutions.
Provide technical support during the construction phase of projects.
Draft and review electrical specifications for projects.
Coordinate and collaborate with internal departments, including Operations, Supply Chain, Project Management, Project Controls, Customer Account Managers, Customer Deliverability, Meter Technology Center, Warehousing, Gas Control, and others.
Effectively communicate and coordinate with multiple internal and external groups and / or service providers, including contractors and vendors.
Participate in the replacement of specific components at City Gate or Regulator Stations, as well as more complex projects such as rebuilds and redesigns.
Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and industry standards, including the National Electric Code / NFPA 70.
Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program is preferred. Alternative degrees (e.g., Mechanical, Chemical) may be considered with relevant experience.
Strong understanding of electrical system design and installation for hazardous locations / oil and gas facilities.
Proficiency in the design and interpretation of AC and DC electrical schematics.
Expertise in the specification and application of digital pressure and temperature instrumentation.
In-depth knowledge of analog / 4-20mA signals, SCADA / PLC equipment design and applications, solid-state and electromechanical relays, and MODBUS serial and Ethernet communication networks.
Experience with electrical valve actuators and solenoid valves.
Familiarity with electrical construction practices.
Proven ability to prepare bid packages / RFPs and evaluate construction contractor proposals.
Excellent presentation and communication skills for design and drawing reviews.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with project stakeholders, including mechanical engineers, IT professionals, project managers, and construction contractors.
Practical work experience as an electrician, equipment technician, or other related construction labor is desirable.
Professional Engineer license is a plus.
Knowledge of the Project Management Institute (PMI) Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) is a plus.
