Job Details:
Job Title: IT Business Analyst
Location: WINDSOR, CT
Duration: 12 Months (Could go beyond)
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- The candidate will work in the Business Intelligence Group in the Information Technology department, performing a variety of information systems activities. The primary function is analyzing and understanding business data, building useful reports for the Businesses, consulting with members of the Services Group in the areas of business analytics and performance. There are presently a team of individuals performing similar functions that will be available to the candidate for OJT instruction and coaching; however, the ability to work independently in the long term is a requirement of this position.
Typical duties/responsibilities include:
- Development of queries and data-models using SQL in tools like SAP Business Objects Universe Design, Tableau Visual Explorer, Bex Analyzer and Hyperion Intelligence to generate reports as required for the businesses.
- Create Dashboards, Data Visualizations and Standardized Reports in Tableau, SAP Business Objects and Hyperion Intelligence and ensure appropriate access and delivery of this content to information consumers.
- Validate the quality of data in our reports/dashboards, tracing it back to it’s original data source system (e.g. SAP and BW) to ensure analyses are accurate.
- Mapping data from source system to datawarehouse and reports and communicating this information to a data modeling team.
- Analyze the business and make recommendations for process improvements based on conclusions from the Key Performance Indicators
- Prepare and present findings to management & operations personnel.
- Responsible for the administration of various data warehouse/data preparation activities.
- Some statistical analyses and forecasting
Complexity of Tasks:
- Must have the ability to work independently with large sets of data and to analyze and make sense of the information. You will also become involved, to a large degree, in the support of the Data Warehouse initiatives. You will often combine disparate datasets together in one file.
- This position requires understanding of business information systems, principles, concepts, and related practices. Requires ability to recognize and resolve problems while complying with schedules and customer requirements. In addition, candidates must have the ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing on matters requiring explanation and clarification.
Qualifications
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related field required; Business or Marketing as a minor degree a plus
Experience (Essential Functions) \
- Statistical analysis experience or knowledge required (the ability to apply data to the business is extremely important).
- Demonstrated proficiency with PowerPoint and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Business Intelligence tools such as Business Objects, Oracle Hyperion Intelligence and Tableau Visual Explorer preferred.
- Knowledge of Business Intelligence concepts and methodologies such as SQL, Big Data, the Balanced Scorecard and Six Sigma preferred.
- Knowledge of SAP ERP system preferred
- Minimum of three (3) years of related Business Intelligence experience preferred.
