Job Description:
The Java Architect will be responsible for leading multiple projects on the IE Team within the Technology Engineering & Architecture organization. The IE group is responsible for managing a Distributed Architecture Framework hosting J2EE and .Net (internet & intranet) applications. The ideal candidate will have a background in technical infrastructure management and engineering, with a history of hands-on experience, not just conceptual understanding.
Responsibilities include:
-- Facilitate In-depth technical consultation with developers and Technical Service Providers (TI) for new projects
-- Troubleshooting complex application integration points and coordinating with virtual team members across the enterprise to deliver complex J2EE hosting solutions
-- Manage multiple projects concurrently and be readily adaptable to change. Additionally this person is expected to be self-motivated, a strong leader, able to influence others and able to think creatively.
-- Manage and work closely with application teams deploying new applications in the Weblogic/Websphere hosting environment(s). Able to gather application configuration needs and facilitate changes with administrators and product vendor (when need be) to resolve technical configuration or application issues etc.
-- Liaison between application teams and administrators for hardware and/or software upgrades
-- Create detailed project budgets that include hardware, software, & resource costs.
-- Demonstrate the ability to create and execute project plans on time and on budget
-- This is a senior level position which typically requires 5 or more years of systems experience
Required Skills:
-- Strong written and oral communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
-- Be able to manage multiple complex technical projects
-- Ability to quickly adapt to changes
-- Knowledge of Hardware Infrastructure, Local Area Networks, and System Development Life Cycle
-- Strong background in Infrastructure Engineering
-- 4 years of experience designing and architecting solutions
-- Past experience as Java/J2EE developer
-- Strong experience with frameworks like Spring, Hibernate, Struts.
-- Extensive experience with: RDBMS, Web Application servers (Websphere, Weblogic, JBOSS), Web Server load balancing (GTM/LTM)
-- Demonstrate the ability to create and execute project plans on time and on budget
-- Ability to lead a project team consisting of resources that are not direct reports (virtual team)
Desired Skills:
-- OO (Object Oriented) Enterprise Application Development
-- Knowledge of SOA (Service Oriented Architecture) concepts
-- Unix shell (ksh) & Perl scripting
-- SSO (Simplified Sign-On), Siteminder
-- Working knowledge of: Weblogic (9.x, 10.x or web center), Oracle (10G & 11), Solaris ( 9, 10), Resonate/GTM/LTM, iPlanet/SUNOne or Apache, MQ Series
-- Capacity planning
-- Building out and maintaining Disaster Recovery environment
