Day to Day :
Contact insurance companies to verify insurance benefits and initiate pre-authorization, PCP referral, and Letter of Agreement requests. Follow-up activities for outcomes are essential.
File appeals for denied coverage when necessary and maintain detailed customer records related to benefit coverage, authorizations, denials, appeals, and communications with insurance companies.
Coordinate with other departments to gather necessary information for benefit verification and manage authorizations, appeals, and outcomes effectively.
Inform customers about the status of authorizations, patient financial responsibility estimates, and collect co-pays if applicable.
Apply knowledge of company procedures and guidelines to process cases, respond to correspondence, and update customer records based on outcomes.
Required Qualifications :
High school diploma or GED and at least 1 year of experience in insurance benefits verification, collections, or managed care contracting.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are crucial for effective interaction with internal and external customers.
Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and provide exemplary customer service.
Strong understanding of the verification of benefits process and Medicare Rules and Regulations.
Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel, is desired.
Preferred Qualifications :
Associate's Degree and knowledge of medical insurance and contracting are preferred.
Strong computer and software skills are advantageous.
