JOB DESCRIPTIONDepartment: SEISTitle: Educational Instructional Support SpecialistFLSA Status: Non-exempt, hourly employeeSupervisor: SEIS Coordinator Purpose: The purpose of the Educational Instructional Support Specialist position is to provide a range of classroom supports for digital learning and educational programs. Essential Functions: Provide a range of classroom supports for digital learning and educational support - Support and maintain classroom procedures during remote and in-person learning - Monitor students on technology during remote learning - Provide support to the teacher by setting up work areas, displays and exhibits, operating audio-visual equipment, operating educational training equipment and distributing and collecting paper and supplies.- Assist students by modeling maintaining a safe and respectful learning environment.- Direct group activities of students assigned; assist in monitoring students as directed. - Confer with teachers concerning programs and materials to meet student needs. - Participate in meetings and in-service training programs as assigned- Follow cleaning procedures for classroom and computer use in accordance with CES Workplace Safety Standards.
- Set up Google Classroom, Meet, and/or Zoom via computers as well as other blended learning technologies to support teacher/student remote learning. - Learn and use new digital tools while maintaining confidentiality and security standards.Program Collaboration- Collaborate with Administration, teachers, clinicians and staff to create a supportive culture of education - Attend program agency meetings to build effective supports for students and foster team work with program staff.- Consult and plan with remote teachers to coordinate technology needs for digital learning- Work effectively with IT staff to support computer operations and technology connection for remote learning. Other Professional Expectations- In conjunction with the Supervisor, develop and maintain personal professional development plan.- Maintain effective/positive relationships with CES, SEIS and all other colleagues and supervisors. - Must be able to communicate and converse effectively in real time with youth and adults from multiple backgrounds and cultures- Drive to designated locations.- Attend all identified meetings in coordination with supervisor, including monthly team meetings and bi-weekly conference calls.- Maintain professional boundaries and attitudes in accordance with CES policies, including demonstrating a caring, culturally and linguistically competent and positive attitude with youth and their families.
- Maintain confidentiality of student information and data - Comply with all policies and procedures of the host agency.- Assume any additional responsibilities as directed by your supervisor. Required Qualifications: - AA degree or Bachelors in Education, Human Services, Counseling or related field- 2 years experience in education, tutoring or other social emotional learning supports- Knowledge of child and adolescent development- Strong written and oral communication skills.- Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle are required.- Experience with a multitude of digital platforms- Ability to handle interruptions and maintain productivity.- Ability to work with diverse personalities.- Skilled in working both independently and collaboratively.Preferred Qualifications: - Experience working with detained or residentially placed youth. - Knowledge of positive behavioral support practices - Skilled in working independently and collaboratively.- Knowledge of cultural diversity and racial diversity concepts - Knowledge of the effects of trauma on children and adolescents.Physical Demands: - Ability to multi-task and respond to demanding job duties with a positive mindset. - Wearing of a cloth or surgical mask required during the work day.
- Must be able to enter, exit, and move through and between classrooms and program locations throughout the day. At some locations this will mean moving between floors. - Must maintain situational awareness, including awareness of student activity and communication in fast-paced secure residential treatment settings. - Requires the ability to effectively handle job stress in the performance of duties.
- This is a remote work position. Terms of Employment: At will, non-exempt, hourly position. Up to 35 hrs/week, depending upon need Position requires employees to be able to perform the essential functions of the job onsite at assigned programs.
