Facility Overview
At Ocean View Psychiatric Health Facility, we are committed to serving as a community resource, providing the highest quality of mental health services. Currently, Ocean View operates as an adult 39-bed voluntary acute inpatient facility, offering private rooms and individualized care through a multi-disciplinary approach focusing on compassionate care and best practices. We also provide Intensive Outpatient (IOP) and Partial Hospitalization (PHP) services to ensure a continuum of care after acute stabilization. We are currently in the process of expanding our Long Beach facility to 80 beds, offering a locked facility setting for those who meet intensive mental health criteria. Additionally, our expansion plans to other areas are progressing rapidly, and we anticipate that our Colton location in San Bernadino County, will be operational by mid-2025.
Outpatient Social Worker 1 Position Overview
Ocean View Social Workers play crucial roles in recovery for each of their patients. Under the supervision of the Outpatient Program Director, the Social Worker 1 provides general casework services and psychotherapy to assigned patients and their families. Coordinates treatment with other agencies such as Adult Protective Services and County and Department of Health and Human Services. Responsible for activities including data collection, group therapy, interdepartmental consultation, mentoring interns, and volunteer staff as a preceptor. Conduct crisis interventions and provide immediate support during times of emotional distress or psychiatric emergencies. Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of client progress, treatment plans, and interventions. Address patient concerns and goals while maintaining constant communication with the patient as well as a case manager. Responsible for additional duties as assigned by the Clinical Director, Director of Social Services, Outpatient Program Director, or Social Worker II staff.

Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or Counseling including a masters in Family Therapy from an accredited college or university.
- Two (2) years direct service experience with severely and persistently mentally ill patients in an inpatient or outpatient health care setting (internship and/or practicum time may be substituted).
- Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of basic medical/psychiatric terminology and psychopharmacology.
- Demonstrated ability to assess the mental status and psychosocial needs of severely mentally ill patients visually and audibly.
- Ability to handle stressful situations and work with patients who may have challenging behaviors.
- Ability to critically handle unexpected challenges in a psychiatric setting and create a plausible solution in a team centered environment.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities to effectively handle a diverse caseload.
- Ability to speak, read, and write legibly in English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience as a registered ACSW.
- Bilingual English/Spanish.
