What are the responsibilities and job description for the Violence Intervention Specialist position at Collaborative Solutions for Communities?
The STOP School Violence Program emphasizes the importance of creating a safe school environment by addressing the root causes of violence. This includes trauma, family and community dynamics, and mental health issues. Additionally, it emphasizes the importance of a detailed school violence awareness campaign, student leadership development, and clear protocols for responding to incidents of violence. By utilizing data-driven strategies and promoting a culture of respect and empathy, the STOP School Violence Program aims to significantly reduce instances of violence, improve overall student well-being, and enhance school safety for students and school staff. This initiative ultimately seeks to empower students and staff with the tools and knowledge necessary to create a peaceful and productive educational environment.
Principle Accountabilities:
The VIS will facilitate in-school socio-emotional group sessions, facilitate student training, organize with students and execute the STOP School Violence awareness campaign, and execute awareness campaign activities, facilitate violence intervention, mediation, restorative justice practices, make referrals to support services, and collaborate with Safe Passage staff to ensure full range violence prevention efforts.
Use Trauma Informed Care to help students overcome obstacles to reach desired outcome and insures training and supervision of these evidenced based practices for program staff

- Reduce school-based violence.
- Reduce community-based violence that infiltrates the schools.
- Increase school safety among school staff and students.
- Increase the awareness of school violence in the community and among students and school staff.
- Create a school violence prevention model to increase the school’s capacity to take effective and preventive measures against school violence.
Education/Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in related field. Must have supervisory experience.
Salary : $46,800 - $64,300
