We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Content Editor to lead the development and delivery of high-quality, engaging content for our Summer Reading Program. This role combines expertise in summer reading programs for public libraries with exceptional editorial and content creation skills.

Location : Fully remote, prefer residence in one of our member states. We will not accept candidates that reside in the following states : CA, OR.

About Us : CSLP is a small non-profit collaborative organization dedicated to fostering a love for reading through inclusive and innovative programming. Our flagship initiative, our annual themed Summer Reading Program for public libraries, inspires communities to engage in lifelong learning and reading.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Content Creation :
  • Develop engaging, high-quality content tailored for public libraries, including annually themed program guides, supplemental activities, promotional materials, templates and other digital resources to help libraries plan and market summer reading.

  • Assist in the creation of marketing materials such as newsletters and email campaigns to promote CSLP and our summer reading programs.
  • Collaborate with graphic designers, program authors and library staff to produce compelling content in multiple formats.
  • Manage social media accounts and update themed content annually, such as in Pinterest accounts and on active Facebook groups.
  • Editorial Oversight :
  • Oversee all content production to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with organizational goals and branding.

  • Edit, proofread, and fact-check written materials to maintain a high editorial standard.
  • Manage and update style guides and content templates as needed.
  • Coordinate with graphic design house to ensure timely delivery of a completed programming manual that meets editorial specifications.
  • Project Management :
  • Serve as the primary project manager for content development related to delivery of a high-quality summer reading program.

  • Liaise with and coordinate volunteer committees that contribute programming content for our annually themed program manual.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of program materials.
  • Develop and manage a content calendar to align with program milestones and marketing strategies.
  • Research & Expertise :
  • Stay informed about trends in public library programming and summer reading initiatives.

  • Provide expertise and innovative ideas to enhance the themes annually chosen by member libraries.
  • Engage with librarians, educators, and community stakeholders to understand their needs and feedback.
  • Qualifications :

  • Experience in Summer Reading Programs : Proven experience working with or developing summer reading programs in a public library setting.
  • Content Creation Skills : Demonstrated ability to produce engaging, creative, and relevant content for diverse library audiences.
  • Editing Expertise : Strong editorial skills, including experience with editing and proofreading publications or educational resources.
  • Project Management : Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Communication Skills : Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages for different platforms and audiences.
  • Education : Bachelor’s degree in library science, communications, English, education, or a related field.
  • Tech Savvy : Proficiency with content creation tools (e.g., Adobe Suite, Canva), project management software such as Basecamp, and social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest).
  • Preferred Skills :

  • Experience working in or collaborating with non-profit organizations.
  • Familiarity with public library systems and community engagement strategies.
  • Knowledge of digital marketing and analytics.
  • Ability to think creatively and manage ambiguity in a small organization where all staff wear multiple hats.
  • Video editing and creation skills desirable.
  • Ability to travel 1 to 2 times annually to Board Retreats, Annual Meetings and to represent CSLP at various state and national conferences.

  • Flexible working arrangements (remote). Hours worked must be between 7am – 6pm in U.S. time zones.
  • 401k, healthcare or retirement stipend of $12,000 annually, 12 federal holidays and 200 hours of annual paid time off.
  • Tech stipend to offset home office expenses of $1,000 annually and tech equipment provided.
