Description
CSPNJ, a mental health nonprofit agency, is looking for temporary Per Diem Warming Center NJCDL Bus Driver(s). The Warming Center provides emergency overnight shelter for the unhoused from November through March. The Warming Center provides a warm safe place for unsheltered individuals to spend the night during the winter months.
Key Responsibilities
- Must have a NJ Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- Transport passengers in Hudson County to the Warming Center in Kearny, NJ.
- Communicate effectively with passengers.
- Maintains orderly conduct of passengers on bus.
- Assist passengers with boarding and exiting the bus, if needed.
- Report accidents, incidents, or mechanical problems to the center manager.
- Inspect the bus before and after each trip to ensure it is in good working condition and ensure cleanliness after each shift.
Hourly Rate: $30.00 | $100 Holiday Shift Pay on Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years Day
Requirements
- NJ Commercial Driver's License (CDL) REQUIRED.
- Clean driving record with no accidents or violations within the last 3 years.
- Prior experience as a bus driver preferred.
- High School diploma / GED.
- Efficiency and time-management.
- Excellent driving skills and knowledge of traffic laws and regulations.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and focused in stressful situations.
- Ability to work with individuals with mental illness in a caring and professional manner.
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office).
- Bilingual skills are a plus.
- Lived Experience: CSPNJ prioritizes hiring people who use their own life experience dealing with mental health/substance use issues to inspire and support others.
